Meet Our Official Hair & Makeup Artist

The next wedding task that I made sure to take care of immediately was booking our official hair and makeup artist.

When it comes to choosing one, I based my decision on a specific “look” that I want for my bridal makeup. And then I look at an artist’s portfolio to see if they’ve done something that comes close to the look I’m aiming for.

I don’t just look at an artist’s website, I also check out their Instagram account because most hair and makeup artists post even more photos on social media, sometimes, even a few behind-the-scenes shots.

But let’s talk about this “look” that I want… What is this “look” exactly, anyway?

Well, for starters, I definitely don’t want anything heavy, or something that would make people think, “Ugh… that’s a LOT of makeup!”. Personally, if our guests think that and they’re at least six feet away from me, Bernie would probably be wondering if he would have to get a butterknife to be able to find me underneath all that makeup.

You could argue that this is MY wedding so I shouldn’t care about what people would think, and to a certain extent, I’d agree 100% with you on that.

However, as would any bride desire on the most significant and celebrated day of her life, I want not just to look and feel beautiful for me, but also for the people whose eyes would be on me almost the entire day. So I want makeup that enhances my best facial features and looks great on camera, but also makeup that’s pleasant to look at all day.

I want it dewy and glowing, with more emphasis on my eyes and lips.

I’m not going for a no-makeup look. That would be a great daily go-to makeup but for something extra special like your wedding, a no-makeup makeup will probably be an understatement.

So my search led me to Leanna Walker of Leanna Marie Artistry whom, I’m happy to share, we just hired yesterday as our official hair and makeup artist for the wedding.

I pursued Leanna like a lioness with eyes fixed on her prey (okay, maybe that’s over-exaggerating). She’s a highly in-demand Temecula-based makeup artist but I patiently waited for her responses to my emails (we went back and forth over the span of two weeks), and I stopped pursuing anyone else from the moment I decided that she’s gonna be my makeup artist.

That’s why I’m so happy when we finally signed the contract and sealed the deal with her.

Leanna will be doing my hair and makeup for our Engagement Photo Shoot as well which will take place on July 1st. Her team will also do the hair and makeup for the ladies in our Bridal Party—my Matron of Honor, Maid of Honor, Bridesmaids and Mother of the Groom (a.k.a. my future Mom-in-Law).
