Shall We Dance, Mr. Estrada?
The secret’s out: Bernie and I are taking dance lessons to prepare for our First Dance as husband and wife.
Who came up with this crazy idea? ✋ Guilty.
In fairness, Bernie and I have always wanted to take dance lessons together. Just like any other couple, we have our own list of “would be nice to do someday”—and to learn how to dance better together has always been at the top of that list.
Well, what better excuse to finally check that off our list than our wedding First Dance, wouldn’t you agree?
We started the process by reaching out via email to Arthur Murray Dance Center here in Temecula. I described in detail what Bernie and I envisioned for our First Dance, what song we want to dance to, and asked if they can help us not to make a fool of ourselves, at the very least. 🤪
They were very excited about our plan and scheduled us right away for our initial meeting which took place last Monday, April 12th.
The first half of the meeting was focused on the instructor getting to know Bernie and me as a couple, as well as all the basic information about the wedding—”When and where is it gonna be?”, “How did you guys meet?”, and “How would you rate yourselves individually in terms of your dancing skills?” were among the questions that we were asked.
And then we were invited to the dance floor to learn a few basic moves—yup, we got straight to the point!
Anthony, our dance instructor was very friendly, warm and funny. His method of teaching is so easy to grasp and follow. So after that initial meeting, Bernie and I went ahead and sealed the deal by booking a package of 10 lessons.
Our first official lesson starts tomorrow, April 15th.
What we’re required to wear: dress shoes with leather soles for Bernie, and flat shoes with a back for me (absolutely no chanklas allowed! 🤪).
We will be dancing to “You’re All I Need To Get By” by Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share more details than that because it’s meant to be a surprise.
I gotta say this though—I’m super proud of Bernie. This is totally new to him but he did wonderful! He picked up those moves quickly and the next thing I knew, he was swaying those hips like Patrick Swayze. And I was like, “Whoa! Baby, look at you..” 🥰
You’ll get to see the entire dance at our wedding reception. And although it won’t come anywhere close to Dancing With The Stars, we promise to entertain you and we’ll have lots of fun.
Anyway, you can listen to the song 👇 below. I’m sure you’ll understand why we chose this song. ❤️🔥
Like the sweet morning dew,
I took one look at you,
And it was plain to see you were my destiny.
With arms open wide, I threw away my pride.
I'll sacrifice for you, dedicate my life for you.
I will go where you lead, always there in time of need.
And when I lose my will you'll be there to push me up the hill.
There's no, no looking back for us, we got love and sure 'nough, that's enough.
You're all, you're all I need to get by.
Like an eagle protects his nest for you I'll do my best,
Stand by you like a tree, and dare anybody to try to move me.
Darlin' in you I found strength where I was torn down
Don't know what's in store but together we can open any door.
Just to be what's good for you and inspire you a little higher.
I know you can make a man out of a soul that didn't have a goal.
'Cause we, we got the right foundation and with love and determination.
You're all, all that I want to strive for and do a little more
You’re all, all the joys under the sun wrapp'd up into one
You’re all I need, you’re all I need, you’re all I need to get by.
