It’s 41 days until The Big Day!
By this time, all wedding invitations have already been sent out and you should already have received yours. Just a quick reminder, the deadline to RSVP is February 5th (six days from now).
For today’s journal entry, I’d like to share with you the process we went through when it came to ordering our wedding invitations. These cards were mailed out four months after the Save-The-Date cards. It might surprise you to know that although we ordered the Save-The-Date cards from Minted, our wedding invitations were from Truly Engaging by MagnetStreet.
The reason that I decided to switch to Truly Engaging was that I didn’t like the fact that Minted printed their company name on the back of our Save-The-Date card without informing us (the customer) that they were going to do that, or give us the option to not have that on our cards. Even if it meant having to pay extra for it, I wish they still gave us that option. I just didn’t appreciate that they used our cards for self-promotion without our permission. So when it was time to order our wedding invitations, I had to keep a mental note of that.
Truly Engaging has been my second choice for our wedding stationery since the beginning, so deciding where to turn to next was a no-brainer.
We placed our order on November 13th of last year and we got them on January 6th. That was more than eight weeks of production and wait time! Actually, it shouldn’t have taken that long under normal circumstances. But what dragged the process on for eight weeks was the design customization, waiting for the designers as they worked on it, and then reviewing and approving the proof. We went through the cycle of modifying, waiting, submitting the proof, and rejecting/accepting the proof about four times due to some errors in the Guest Mailing Info that for some reason, they failed to correct up until the fourth time.
As far as customization, the only things we customized (other than the text content, of course) were the colors and the font style. We wanted to use our official wedding colors and font style so it’s consistent with our website and Save-The-Date card. But the process of custom designing the card using their design editing tool is so meticulous. For every page, card, or section of a card that you want any customization done, you have to submit a very detailed request, clearly describing exactly what you want to be changed or done. And the space inside the text box is limited, so if you have a long text or a lot of content to add, you’ll have to adjust the font size several times to make it fit. This part of the process is very time-consuming and, depending on your level of patience, it can drive you cray-cray!
We found our consolation when we finally received the cards… and they turned out really well and were packaged so beautifully!
Your invitation should come with:
The main pocket invitation
3 enclosure cards (Details, Additional Information, and RSVP cards)
1 return envelope for the RSVP card
Overall, were we happy with Truly Engaging? The answer is YES, and for the following reasons:
They have a ton of gorgeous designs to choose from
The editing tool is very user-friendly, and
Customer service was fantastic!
So if you’ll be planning a wedding in the near future, or if you just need to order some elegant invitations for whatever occasion, just keep in mind that the more intricate your design needs are, the more patience and time you’re gonna have to give it.
If you haven’t yet, please DON’T FORGET TO RSVP ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 5TH. You can either use the RSVP card that came with the invite, or you can RSVP here on the website.
Thanks and we’re excited to see you very soon! 😊
