Live Musicians vs. DJ
The package we got with our wedding venue included a DJ—which was awesome!
But I told Bernie that I want to have a string quartet for the ceremony, cocktail hour and some key parts of the reception.
A great DJ can help make sure that your wedding reception does not become as dry as a bone. And whether your guests decide to hit the dance floor after dinner will depend heavily on how good the DJ is.
But when it comes to bringing the elegance and romance factor to a wedding, nothing beats live musicians—particularly, a string quartet.
So the second vendor Bernie and I made sure that we book early was our string quartet.
The process wasn’t at all difficult. First, we went searching through The Bash (formerly GigMasters), a website that has all the different resources, tips, vendors and service providers to help you plan your event.
Then we browsed through their list of recommended string quartets for weddings.
And there we found the Organic String Quartet. As soon as we heard the samples of their performance, Bernie and I didn’t waste any time. We booked them right away. We didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to book one of the best string quartets we’ve ever come across and will probably ever find in the area.
We couldn’t be happier with our decision—again, #bestdecisionever
The owner, Alicia Spillias, was nothing but gracious and accommodating. Just from our email communications, I already feel so comfortable and at ease with her.
I am particularly blown away by how broad their repertoire is, and that they also can custom arrange a song for me—they’re actually doing a custom arrangement for the song that I picked for my Bridal March (I’ll share more about that another time).
So that, and the fact that they’re wickedly good, pretty much sealed the deal for us. Watch the video below, see for yourself.
